PRESS OPERATOR
$19.00 - $25.00 hourly depending on experience!
 
Luxfer Superform is seeking candidates with experience in operating hydraulic presses. The position entails the manufacture of components from aluminum sheets, utilizing hot press manufacturing.
The company produces unique and complex aluminum components for the Aerospace, Automotive, and Rail Industries. To further support our operational needs the role may encompass training on additional functions such as bandsaw, metal shearing, plasma cutting, clean line operation, tool preparation, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: May include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
  • Prepare material for SPF forming including, but not limited to; pulling designated material, shearing material to size, and preparing, loading, and unloading tools for use in forming aluminum, titanium, or magnesium parts.
  • Safe operation of the hot forming press.
  • Prepare formed parts for the next process, including but not limited to; Plasma cutting, Cleanline, and trimming.
  • Perform minor maintenance to the machine when needed.
  • Operate a forklift to move raw materials, tools, etc. to the desired location.
  • Accurately and in a timely manner complete all Production and Quality Documents supporting AS9100 Requirements.
  • Execute daily work duties to meet customer demands while upholding quality and safety standards.
  • Utilize a variety of hand and stationary tools to hand-finish precision-formed aluminum components. Tools include; a buffing wheel, airbrush finishers, sanders (belt and orbital), drills (stationary and pneumatic), routers, riveters (hand and pedal operated), and any other tools required for the process.
  • Ensure all jobs before processing have appropriate work instructions, gauges, tools, etc. to minimize disruption and reduce quality risks.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Two or more years' experience in a Manufacturing Environment, preferred.
  • Experience on the following machines is preferred but not required, Hot Forming Hydraulic Press, Forklift, Plasma Cutter, Clean Line, and Tool Prepping.
  • Previous work experience and education directly linked to the position may be considered.
  • Ability to read Blueprints preferred. Knowledge of inspection tools is also preferred.
  • Must be familiar with safety requirements in the manufacturing area.   
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand during entire shift, ranging from 8 – 12 hours, excluding breaks/lunches; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; and talk or hear.
  • The employee must be capable of lifting and handling material up to (50) pounds on an occasional basis, twenty-five (25) pounds on a regular basis.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work within a non - controlled temperature environment ranging from 400 to 1100 Fahrenheit. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions may also occur.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Operators will be exposed to dust and occasional high noise levels.  Safety equipment will be provided.
